My Security

Your Security is Important to Us
. If you ever have questions about the security of the information posted on ALFA Exchange, please feel free to contact Exchange@ALFA.org.

Thanks for being part of ALFA Exchange. To ensure the best possible experience for all community members, we have established best practices to protect your privacy and security.

Personal Data:

ALFA Exchange members have the ability to control what parts of their profile are visible to different groups (contacts, ALFA Exchange authenticated members, the public, nobody).

ALFA has established default settings that protect your personal contact information. Your email address, mailing address and phone number are by default unavailable to the ALFA Exchange community or larger public. If you approve a contact (similar to approving a contact in LinkedIn) than you will by default share your work address and work phone number with that person. You can always change your profile preferences if you wish to make your personal information either more public, or more secure.

You can change your profile preferences by clicking on "Directory", hover over "My Profile" and click "My Privacy Settings".

Default Profile Preferences

You can change your profile preferences by clicking on "Directory", hover over "My Profile" and
click "My Privacy Settings".

When you review your own profile, you will see all of your personal information, but others cannot see any part of your profile that you have indicated as private to that group (contacts, ALFA Exchange authenticated members, the public, nobody).

Membership Directory

The membership directory allows site users the ability to look up contacts and colleagues one member at a time. The site user can than request to connect with you as a "contact". No one can view your email address or gather it from the ALFA Exchange Member Directory (unless you set your email address to public). Only Assisted Living Federation of America Super-Admin staff can pull lists of ALFA Exchange members. ALFA does not distribute this list.

Self-Moderation

Different groups have different security settings. Most groups are viewable by the public, but only authenticated ALFA Exchange Members can post files, comment on a discussion and/or post a discussion. Messages and posts are all accompanied with the name of the person who posted it which aids in generating accountability.

ALFA does not actively monitor the site for inappropriate postings and do not on its own undertake editorial control of postings. However, in the event that any inappropriate posting is brought to ALFA’s attention, we will take all appropriate action. Discussions and groups are self-moderated which means that if a group member flags a post as inappropriate, ALFA will be notified and decide whether or not to take action.

Code of Conduct

The code of conduct also allows ALFA to preserve a climate that encourages both civil and fruitful dialogue. ALFA reserves the right to suspend or terminate membership on all lists for members who violate these rules. Please click to review the full Code of Conduct for ALFA Exchange.
